Born today in New Orleans at the
turn of the Century, clarinetist
George Lewis was among the many
musicians who remained in The
Crescent City for most of their
careers.
Though professionally active
since his teens, George didn't
become popular with audiences
outside of his hometown until
the 1940's.
In tribute to the memory of
New Orleans jazz icon George
Lewis 20sJazz presents a
mesmerizing 1950's television
performance featuring his
signature piece.
